True Prophecy

"My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever." (Psalm 45:1-2)

Many mistake prophecy for a mere inspiration or revelation from God. Although many inspirations, dreams and revelations can have a prophetic nature, a true prophecy is like a well that sprouts out of one's mouth, as boiling waters that spring the good news of our King in a majestic and supernatural way.

Lips that are anointed with the gift of prophecy tell of the eternal covenant of God: the Gospel (the only noble theme), inspired and stirred by the Holy Spirit. This is not the work of man's mind, talent or intellect, but a divine intervention of the Holy Spirit in the anointed prophet.

Just as a lion that dwells in the jungle roars to make his presence heard, the Holy Spirit uses the mouth of the prophet to make the righteousness of the Kingdom heard on the earth.

The mouth of the prophet jets out the Word of God, like an arrow is released to hit its target. Prophecy is not mere words but action and command, rebuke and encouragement.

"It was he (Christ) who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Eph 4:11-13)

Prophecy serves for the equipping of the saints for ministry. And the aim is to reach maturity in Christ, to reach the whole measure of fullness that is in Christ. Prophecy is not partial. Prophecy is not vague. It is as clear as the sun for those who have ears to hear and for those who have eyes to see.

"the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy" (Rev 19:10).

Jesus has ascended and is seated on the right side of the Father but the Holy Spirit still speaks His words today through men who have denied themselves for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Prophecy speaks of Christ and of what He is about to do. It is a testimony given to the nations. It is a testimony given to the Church. It is a testimony given through the Church.

The major function of the body of Christ is to be a prophet to the world, to prophecy Christ's victory over Satan on all circumstances of life!

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter."He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Rev 19:11-16)

Prophecy comes to accomplish one thing and one thing only! It comes to declare war against Satan and to declare the victory of Jesus: the Word of God.

Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty. In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds. Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.” (Psalm 45:3-5)

The function of the Church is to be the pen in the Master's hand, the bow in Christ's hand, devoted to undergo tension and release the arrow of His word straight into the heart of the enemy. True prophecy is victory and power.

The righteous roar like lions and prophets prophecy with the power of the Word of God (Pr 28:1).
