Give Us Our Daily Bread (Mt 6:11)

The Bible is full of mysteries. The moment we try to put these mysteries in concrete boxes, we start making fools of ourselves. The richness of our faith and of our God is given for us to contemplate, enjoy, eat, digest, dream and bear fruit as a result of our childlike obedience. it is not meant to be stored up in labeled jars. Theology is an awesome thing. It helps us chew on the bread and enjoy it fully. It ceases to be great when it is translated into letters carved in stones because the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life! (2 Corinthians 3:6)

Remember what would happen to collected excess manna in the wilderness...

"Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning. However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them. Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away." (Exodus 16:19-21)

We approach God every day for fresh and deeper revelation. What we truly need is Him, not shelves full of cans of yesterday's spoiled revelation. When we approach the Bible, or when we approach God in prayer, we seek a first-hand fresh revelation. We live depending on Him.

One thing is for sure... He is good and His mercy endures forevermore!
