The Anointing

Life flows through the Son. The Son is the Image of the Father, the anointed in the Holy Spirit, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Heaven. Life, as we know it, is the very light of mankind. Without it, man has no vision, no goodness, no purpose, no power, no love. Deprived of Life, man can do nothing. Remaining in the Son, man can do much.

I believe in the kind of mystical dynamic between God and man, which is best described, portrayed and demonstrated during Jesus' baptism. God's secret was unlocked, revealed, by God Himself for all those present to see, hear and witness, who man is, where man's place is in God. And what man is capable of was demonstrated by Jesus earthly ministry, following His baptism.

That very same Life was poured out on many on the cross, where the Son destroyed sin in His body through His death and resurrection, and made a new and living way through His wounds for all to enter and find life right there, inside of Him, before the throne of the Father!

I have heard many talk about the anointing in very different ways. I would like to describe it as the overflow of the Life-power inside us. The more the waters are stirred, the more of His Life-power is made visible and tangible. The anointing makes miracles happen, because it is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit from inside us on the situation, circumstance, illness, death, fallen nature, etc...

The anointing carries the power of the victory of Christ. The anointing we believers enjoy is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is the anointing of Christ. It is the very same power-carrying substance that the entire body of Christ; the Church, is anointed with. It is beautifully compared to olive oil in the Old Testament, which comes out of the olive as it is squeezed and can be used for so many good purposes.

The anointing that is made visible or tangible through any person in Christ, is only the result of the 'squeeze' and the 'crushing' that Jesus had to go through on the cross. Now the way a person is trained to tap into that source and practice the transferring of that power in ministry, accompanied with the person's gifting and character makes the anointing flow in the manner it does, through that specific servant / son of God.

Some people mistakenly go after another person's anointing. Everyone should seek his/her own way, according to his/her calling and gifting. But the anointing transferred may result in the next person's awakening in his/her own inheritance. That is why the laying on of hands is practiced in the Church.

The more we grow in the knowledge of God and His goodness, the more we adapt to our identity in Him and the easier and 'natural' it becomes to use the anointing.

Contrary to common belief, the anointing is not the sensation we feel when under the anointing. But that's only the collision of the power of God with our bodies and souls. It is only the beginning of the work of the anointing. The real power is made evident through the transformation, whether that is healing, character, repentance, or any other work of God.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit, which we have received is to be used wisely and efficiently, meaning to be given our full attention and dedication. The worst thing we can do is to rely on intellectual knowledge with the reliance you can have on the anointing. The anointing carves out the image of Christ which is already hidden in our spirit, in order to bring it to the surface and make it accessible to men. There is no better way to go. We have the power of God at our disposal to use exhaustively throughout the day.

"But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him." (1 John 2:27)
