Leading Younger Generations

If David had spoken so negatively and had viewed Solomon as an unqualified person, He would have jeopardized God’s plan. He did all he could in his power to help Solomon do his part, knowing his weakness.

I hear so much negative talk about the young generation. What you view as their weakness, might just be what God intends to use to reveal His power in their generation. The question is do you want to be part of God’s plan?

Every generation is unique just like every individual is unique. A good leader can discern, make room for opportunity, delegate and lead the younger generation according to its unique identity and not solely based on his or her past experience as if attempting to mold his or her copy. That simply won’t work.

Elders and leaders need to realize that it is by divine design and thanks to previous generations that they are where they are and that they were able to play their role in their prime. Also, they need to realize that it is also by divine assignment they have preceded the current generation and they have a responsibility, power and calling to lead them into a successful journey. They won’t be like them. They won’t resemble them. But if they are led right, they might be just as effective or even excel.

David was a man of war and had fought many battles for God’s people and led by God. He served well. But building the temple was just not for him. God had called his soft son Solomon to do that. If David raised Solomon against Solomon’s identity to be a warrior like him, he would have miserably failed. Solomon excelled in being a dreamer and a lover of God. But he couldn’t have done it without the foundation of his father David, although he was nothing like David.

I hope this serves as an inspiration and challenge to younger and especially older generations to seek God according to each one’s calling. Blessings!
