Is It Spiritual?

So much of things that are really emotional and social are mistaken for things spiritual. Although the spiritual is often manifested through sensible ways, spiritual has to do with the presence of God and His work in man.

It is my prayer that as we contemplate on things we observe or hear, we seek a deeper understanding from the Spirit of God who has His very unique way to make the unseen comprehensible to us by direct revelation.

Speaking about spiritual gifts, Paul makes this distinction and compares being driven by idols to being led by the Holy Spirit, because pagans are led by habits, emotions and natural impulses, but sons of God are led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1)

Let us be a people who can discern and distinguish things spiritual and things carnal, not by appearance but by the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Now about the spiritual gifts [the special endowments given by the Holy Spirit], brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, you were led off after speechless idols; however you were led off [whether by impulse or habit]. Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the [power and influence of the] Spirit of God can say, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is [my] Lord,” except by [the power and influence of] the Holy Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:1-3 AMP)
