Authority of Fathers
It is the duty of fathers to prophesy over future events, future breakthroughs, future endeavors, and mostly future descendants and generations.
When we fathers pray, we use our authority. We speak into future events and co-create with the Spirit that’s in us.
We prophesy and speak into being all that is in the good will of our heavenly Father. We can see our descendants, their personalities and callings and even catch a glimpse of their appearance.
No matter how small or insignificant we may be regarded by worldly standards, we are not called to thresh wheat like Gideon, and make dens and caves in the mountains for hiding from scourging enemies, like the Israelites.
We are called to prophesy! Abraham was given a promise, a Seed. His entire life was a declaration of that Seed. Jesus was given to us all as sons of the same faith. We have an inheritance unlike no other. In Christ, we are to take our mandate unto perfection and fill the earth with sons, as it was originally intended.
He was not given to us as just a religion or teacher. God incarnate was given to man, so that man can be redeemed back to the original God-given authority for dominion over the earth. And this is how we rule: with meekness and humility, we present ourselves as living sacrifices, just as He presented Himself as the ultimate Sacrifice. And we return with a son. We receive favor and grace to use in this world. We are living somewhere between heaven and earth. What we intend to offer this world is nothing of this world. Otherwise, what good are we? We would be simply recyclers, scammers. But no, what we offer is not of this world but of the Eternal who was and is and is to come. We prophesy over this world of desolate prostitutes and murderers. We prophesy LIFE!
Earthly wisdom demands that fathers leave riches as earthly inheritance to their children. We, however, the people of the heavenly wisdom (Jesus), we leave something much greater, I should rather say we leave someOne much greater, an inheritance unlike any other. We leave LIFE!
As the week starts and we fathers go about our businesses, let us be reminded that it is not the anxiety or the demand of the marketplace that drives us, but with everything we do, we dictate the future of this world and the descendants we will leave in it, to continue this ancient legacy, which started in a garden, and keeps spreading today thanks to a Man who spoke a ‘better Word’, who spoke life over death, and purchased it with His blood, to give to everyone who would receive with humility in order to use with authority given from above.
