The Destiny of Nations

"Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all" (Romans 4:16)

The destiny of nations is found in Christ. Many nations today have lost their Christian roots or are only considered a Christian nation by name (2 Corinthians 13:5). Others have refused to accept Christ or have never been reached with the Gospel. No matter where a nation is in its history, it can only be established in righteousness and inherit its godly destiny by faith in Christ.

This is an eternal truth that cannot be altered. Why? You might wonder. The answer is simple and can be found in the person of Jesus Christ.  Everything was created by Him, through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16). He is the promised Messiah. He was not only the savior of the nation of Israel from captivity but also the One to fulfill God's initial plan to fill the earth with sons and daughters.

The Apostle Paul writes to the Church in Rome reminding them that man built idols in the form of creatures and disregarded the Creator, refusing to keep the knowledge of God (Romans 1:25-28). Jews boasted in the Law given to them by God, but failing to keep it, have also fallen short because it is not he who keeps the outward works of the Law but he who keeps the law in His heart that is justified.

In the appointed time, God became man and fulfilled the righteousness required as man and in the place of all humanity. And to all those who believed in His name, He gave them the authority to become sons of God (John 1:12).

Prophetically in the Old Testament, Abraham is an example of a man who was made righteous by faith (Romans 4:13), not by works but by believing in the promise of God. It was not his offspring from a servant conceived by his natural will and act that birthed the destiny of a nation. On the contrary, that act gave birth to enmity and difficulty for his nation. It was his faith in the promise of God that made him righteous.

The present times are times of idolatry, nationalism, indifference, and rebellion. But these are also times of fear, confusion, instability, and insecurity. What we have available in Christ is an indescribable treasure.

It is time to seek and to discover the promise of God for nations in Christ. It is time for the present generation to press in. It is time to stand in the gap with Christ on the right side of the Father, calling all nations to come to Him, calling on the Church to go to declare by the Spirit news previously unheard, a message forgotten, a message badly needed for these times and for the present generation, a treasure in earthen vessels, holding the key to the knowledge of God in Christ for the nations to be illuminated by (2 Corinthians 4:6-7)

Now is the time for the light of Christ to break forth and bring nations out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9)

God bless you!
